Joy (2015)
PG-13 | 2h 4min | Biography, Comedy, Drama | 25 December 2015 (USA)
1955. Joy works in the post of a clerk in an Eastern Airlines ticket company. She is unsatisfied with her job. She always had a fantasy of creating new things and always had good support from her grandmother, Mini. Most of the time she comes up with new ideas but some others make fortunes out of it. She feels that the lack in practical support has led to this problem. Despite being broken from family, Joy is the person in her extended family who everyone has turned towards during their problems. She has missed most of her happy moments in life. She did not get the chance of going to college because of her parents getting divorced. Joy lives with her mother Terry who has no other work other than spending all day in bed and watching soap operas. Terry’s ex-husband Yony also lives with them, an unsuccessful Latino Tom Jones wannabe and their two children. Her father Rudy, another character of the film, he is owner of a heavy duty garage that runs in loss and is managed by Joy’s older half-sister Peggy. Both of them lead somewhat an unhappy relationship, which is why Joy does the books.
